These reed diffusers from
Abode Aroma were a new one on me but they are FABULOUS. Much smellier than a candle and the pink grapefruit one that I tried was a fabulous room deodoriser (I have a very old cat - you know what I'm saying....) You simply give the reeds a twiddle when you're passing and they waft out more scent.
